"Music In The Park," a free summer concert series, will offer a variety of musical sounds in three Chula Vista parks beginning June 8 and continuing until Aug. 17. Featured bands will play music ranging from R&B and Latin jazz to Big Band, surfing and oldies. All of the concerts will be presented on Sundays from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

This summer's concerts are slated in three different parks in three different regions of Chula Vista. All of the concerts in June are scheduled in eastern Chula Vista at Salt Creek Recreation Center, located at 2710 Otay Lakes Rd. In July the concerts will be presented at Veterans Park, 785 East Palomar St, near the center of the city. The August concerts are set in the Memorial Park Bowl, located in downtown/western Chula Vista at 373 Park Way.

"Our annual concert series has experienced tremendous audience growth and change in terms of quality, diversity and popularity," said Assistant Library Director Roderick Reinhart. "It truly has become the 'flagship' of summer programs in the city. We invite residents to bring their family and friends along with a picnic for an enjoyable Sunday afternoon with Music in the Park."

In its 46th year, this annual musical event is presented by the Chula Vista Public Library Foundation, in cooperation with the Chula Vista Public Library. Sponsors this year include Target, the County of San Diego, and the Star News. For more information, call the City of Chula Vista's events line at (619) 585-5682 or visit www.chulavistalibrary.com
